The Bahamas are Open! Re-entry Guidelines

Effective May 1st, the Bahamian Government has adjusted their requirements for entry into the Bahamas to accommodate guests who have received complete vaccinations. Providing you have received full vaccination at least 14 days prior to your arrival you will be exempt from COVID-19 testing for entry into the Bahamas. You will still need to obtain a Health Visa – you will simply upload your vaccination record instead of your negative COVID-19 testing results on your visa application.

Currently, the U.S. still requires a negative rapid antigen test within 3 days of your return flight to the U.S. to enter the country regardless of your vaccination status. The Health Visa includes COVID-19 health insurance during your stay as well as a rapid antigen test on your 5th day. Unless you are extending your stay in the Bahamas this test result will serve as the negative test required to re-enter the U.S. There are several rapid antigen testing sites throughout the Cays (one right here at our base resort) and we will assist your group to ensure a seamless and easy testing process. Should you extend your stay in the Bahamas we can easily arrange for a rapid-antigen test right here at our base resort on your last charter night at an additional cost of $25 per person. We will review these procedures with you upon arrival.

For non-vaccinated guests, you will need to schedule your COVID-19 test no more than 5 days prior to your arrival (your testing day is day zero, and your arrival day is day 5). Most laboratories that we have found offer a 48-72 hour turnaround of results. Once your test results have been received, please complete the form and upload your results to the Bahamian Government at the following link: It is important that the results you upload show the type of COVID-19 test (should be RT-PCR test) as well as the lab where your testing was taken. Guests that have been completely vaccinated at least 14 days prior to arrival will need to upload their vaccination record to this site in lieu of test results. Providing all information is uploaded correctly and your test results are negative (if applicable), your visa will be approved and notification sent to you within 72 hours after proper form submission (we find the average is about 6 hours turnaround time, often sooner). Please download the Visa information to your phone, and also bring with you two printed versions along with two printed copies of your negative test results or vaccination record as applicable. Living the Dream – Retirement on the Seas

A common comment by charter guests while reluctantly handing their boat back to our staff is: “I wish I could do this forever.”

Kevin and Linda Potts had the same thought after a charter in the Fall of 2016. They loved cruising the beautiful Caribbean and the freedom of charting one’s own course. They promptly returned home and did more than just dream about owning a yacht – they started planning their retirement to include sailing from port to port. Kevin and Linda signed up for sailing lessons to improve their skills and then began researching the cost of purchasing, commissioning and maintaining their own sailboat.

With just four or five years to plan for retirement and their new cruising lifestyle, Kevin and Linda decided to look into placing a new boat in charter service as a means of offsetting some of their expenses. They started researching charter companies where a boat could be placed in a charter program to help make payments and keep up with general maintenance. After researching several charter companies they chose CYOA Yacht Charters in St. Thomas. … Read More
