YOUR SAN DIEGO CHARTER STARTS HERE
Waypoints San Diego operates from four distinct marina locations across San Diego Bay, giving guests the flexibility to depart from whichever point best suits their plans. All four are managed in partnership with Seaforth Yacht Charters.
Your Waypoints Yacht Charters Specialist will help you identify the right location for your charter.
LOCATIONS
Coronado
1715 Strand Way, Coronado, CA 92118
The Coronado marina places you steps from one of Southern California’s most iconic neighborhoods — a peninsula community defined by its Victorian architecture, the legendary Hotel del Coronado, and a pace of life that feels genuinely removed from the city across the bay.
Departing from here puts Glorietta Bay immediately to hand and sets you up beautifully for either a bay exploration or a run south toward Chula Vista and the South Bay wildlife refuge.
Downtown
333 West Harbor Drive, Gate 1 Marriott Hotel and Marina, San Diego, CA 92101
The Downtown location at the Marriott Hotel and Marina puts the full San Diego waterfront at your doorstep — the USS Midway Museum, the Embarcadero, Seaport Village, and the skyline itself are all visible from the dock.
This is the most urban of the four departure points, and it makes an excellent base for guests combining a charter with time in the city. The walk from the marina to the Gaslamp Quarter is under ten minutes.
Harbor Island
955 Harbor Island Drive, Ste. 200, San Diego, CA 92101
Harbor Island sits on a narrow peninsula between the Downtown waterfront and the approach to Point Loma — the gateway to the open Pacific.
Departing from Harbor Island gives you the Bay’s full range in one direction and Point Loma’s dramatic passage to the ocean in the other. Bali Hai and Brigantine, two of San Diego’s most established waterfront restaurants, are nearby for post-charter dining. This is the location referenced in both sample itineraries as the primary sailing hub.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort
4000 Coronado Bay Road, Coronado, CA 92118
The Loews Coronado Bay Resort marina occupies the southern tip of the Coronado peninsula, surrounded by water on three sides with direct access to the South Bay and the quiet, wildlife-rich waters of the Chula Vista Marine area.
This is the most resort-oriented of the four departure points — guests staying at the Loews have an exceptional combination of five-star hotel amenities and a private catamaran waiting at the dock. A fitting base for honeymoons, anniversaries, and occasions that warrant something memorable.

Weather & Sailing Conditions
SAN DIEGO: THE YEAR-ROUND SAILING DESTINATION
San Diego averages over 266 days of sunshine annually and enjoys some of the most consistent sailing weather of any US port city. The combination of reliable afternoon sea breezes, protected inner bay waters, and Pacific Ocean access within easy range makes it a genuinely compelling year-round charter destination.
Temperatures: Mild year-round. Summer highs typically reach the mid-70s°F; winter days are comfortably in the 60s°F on the water. Morning fog (“June Gloom”) is common from May through early July, generally burning off by midday.
Wind: Afternoon sea breezes of 10–18 knots are typical and reliable, particularly in summer. Morning conditions are often calmer, making early departures smooth and afternoon sails lively.
Swell and Ocean Conditions: San Diego Bay is well-protected from ocean swell. The coastal run north toward La Jolla and south toward Imperial Beach is generally manageable, though Pacific conditions vary — your crew will always advise on whether ocean sailing is appropriate for the day’s forecast.
No hurricane season. San Diego is outside the tropical storm belt entirely, making it a reliable year-round option without the seasonal closures of Caribbean and Bahamian destinations.
Provisioning

By Car
San Diego is easily accessible by freeway from across Southern California and beyond:
- From Los Angeles: I-5 South (~2 hours depending on traffic)

Parking is available at or near all four marina locations — confirm current parking details with the operations team for each specific location.
