ABOUT WAYPOINTS BAHAMAS
Waypoints Bahamas is proud to partner with Cruise Abaco — the Abacos’ most experienced and trusted charter operation — based at the Great Abaco Beach Resort (Boat Harbour Marina) in Marsh Harbour. Together, we offer a charter experience defined by local knowledge, meticulously maintained yachts, and a level of personal attention that larger operations simply can’t match.
Every boat in our fleet is individually outfitted with solar panels, a fully equipped galley, a RIB inflatable dinghy with a reliable outboard, and the kind of thoughtful touches that make a week aboard feel like a week on your own private yacht. Our team stands by 24/7 on VHF — whether you need local knowledge, weather advice, or just a restaurant recommendation at the next cay.
Captained By Day, Bareboat By Night™: The Best of Both Worlds.
This is what makes a Waypoints Bahamas charter unlike any other sailing vacation you’ve experienced. Each morning, your experienced local captain joins you aboard and guides your day, navigating the inner channels, advising on the best snorkel spots, sharing the kind of local knowledge that only comes from years on these waters.
At the end of each sailing day, he’s picked up by chase boat wherever you happen to be, leaving you with the boat entirely to yourselves for the evening. Privacy, freedom, a cold drink in the cockpit, and a different anchorage every night.
The following morning, he returns at whatever time you choose, and the adventure continues.
It’s the perfect solution for guests who want experienced guidance on the water without sacrificing the feeling of having the boat — and the night — entirely to themselves. And for those who want to learn? Our captains love nothing more than sharing their passion for sailing.
Why Sail
The Bahamas
The Sea of Abaco is a naturally protected body of water running along the inside of a chain of barrier islands and cays, which means you’re almost always sailing in calm, clear, turquoise conditions regardless of what the Atlantic is doing on the other side. Distances between stops are short, anchorages are plentiful, and the settlements dotted along the cay chain each have their own distinct personality.
Guana Cay has Nippers, a legendary Sunday beach party on a hillside that looks out over both sides of the island. Hope Town on Elbow Cay has its iconic red-and-white candy-striped lighthouse and some of the most charming harbor architecture in the Bahamas. Man-O-War Cay has Albury’s, a family boat-building and canvas shop that’s been running for generations and is unlike anything you’ll find anywhere else. Little Harbour has Pete’s Pub, a legendary open-air bar that feels like it belongs in a novel. And woven between all of it: empty beaches, bright reefs, and water so clear you can read the bottom from the deck.
