Why Choose Cruise Annapolis for Your Charter Adventures?

An Interview With Repeat Charter Guest: Andrew Gunn

When it comes to choosing the perfect company to charter with, people spend a lot of time researching everything from yacht availabilities to local attractions to pricing.

Our team had a wonderful conversation with one of our frequent charter guests, Andrew Gunn, to determine what motivates him to continue working with us for his family’s chartering adventures. For the past three charter seasons, the Gunn family of four has traveled to Annapolis to charter catamarans from our fleet of Jeanneau and Fountaine Pajot models.

This past season they joined us seven times, favoring our Lucia 40s with the Owners layout. Here is what Mr. Gunn had to say about his overall experience with Cruise Annapolis:

How did you originally hear about us?
I was searching online for charters in Annapolis. Ended up chartering with you two or three times before really going all out.

Why do you enjoy chartering with our fleet?
I grew up sailing in the Northeast, from Long Island, Shelter Island Sound, and Peconic Bays to Buzzards Bay. Chartering allows access to the newest yachts and equipment without some of the burdens of yacht ownership. The Cruise Annapolis fleet is brand new, so we’re chartering the latest and greatest yachts, with the latest equipment and technology, which is different than you’ll find elsewhere. Catamarans are like condos on the water, comfortable for the family, kids, and cruising. Right now, we have limited time to sail, but eventually, I am interested in owning by participating in the Business Yacht Ownership® program.

What do you and your family enjoy doing during your charters?
We like to go over to Shaw Bay on the way to St. Michaels where we drop the hook for the night. Rock Hall is a great spot too. We mostly do day sails or put on the mooring in Annapolis to enjoy the harbor, go into town for a bite or shopping. Whitehall Bay is also a favorite spot for swimming, kayaking, and tubing. The kids are learning how to sail and are becoming my first mates. They love cruising around in the dingy and exploring, along with crabbing, swimming, and diving off the bow.

What are the most important factors that keep you coming back?
The people and the service. I don’t advocate a lot, but the Cruise Annapolis staff is what makes this place great. They offer the same kind of service you’d expect from a company like Apple or Disney. The customer service is phenomenal and the whole team goes out of the way to accommodate special requests. Jevon, Head of Maintenance, is very responsive to questions and concerns. The office team, Susan and Amanda, work to get our charter packages set up and make sure the boats feel like a home away from home. The whole team runs a first class operation that people would be hard pressed to find elsewhere in the mid-Atlantic region.
